New Character Ideas

"Crocodile Dan-Dee"
Fights using a utility knife and grapple style moves (not actual throws, but things more along the lines of attack throws that chain into others maybe.) Also must have a long standing rivalry with Rock! :p

I love the rivalry aspect. Ivy and Cervantes; Rock and Astaroth; Maxi and Astaroth...they should do more. Lol! I'm such a SC whore. I won't be happy until they have like 100 characters or something.

The other day I saw...dammit I can't remember their names but someone had made those 4 or 5 samurai characters that represent like different elements. Goddamit!!! The name just totally slipped my mind. Anyway, as I was playing him he's sitting there and giving possible back stories and how they can fit in to this one. That shit is just genius to me. I know I'm just an idiot with no creativity what so ever so can anyone else do this type of thing?

Elements? Earth and Water seem best for samurai, while (I think) fire and wind would be better suited for ninja. Working as a team, they would be quite formidable indeed...

Dammit! Lol, yes they were formidable. I think they were involved with astrology or something. Dammit I'm probably fucking it all up, but it's been years since I've watched cartoons.

I don't watch television much at all, so I don't know what cartoon you're talking about. And though it may not fit easily into Soul Calibur (although... stranger things have been Made to work), I really enjoy the idea of an elemental fighting team. Two "pilars" -a strong earth samurai, and a flowing water one. And two, more mobile, warriors to attack around and between them -a "move and strike hard" fire ninja, and an evasive, almost constantly moving, wind one.

Weapons should fit the theme as well:

Earth-A katana version of a Nightmare sword
........Fights like a cross between Asteroth and Mitsurugi
Water-A katana
.........Fights like a cross between Xianghua and Mitsurugi
Fire-A ninja straight blade
......Fights like a cross between Taki and Heihatchi
Wind-Hand and feet claws
.......Fights like a cross between Taki and Voldo

These are just the first thoughts that came to mind on the topic.

Dammit, that's preety good! Curse my non-creative mind!!! Lol! But it was bothering me so I had to go and find out. Ronin Warriors was the name. I used to love that shit back in the day.

I actually was thinking about a character the other day and I put more thought into it then I usually do with this kind of thing.

Basically he'd be a man who is addicted to crime, from murder to assault, I picture him as extremely pale and gaunt from spending mot of his life locked in various prisons and dungeons away from the sun. He'd wear rags (though obviously they'd have to be in either a cool or a slutty way what with this being SC) And his weapon would be a thick chain with large heavy shackles on the end.

He'd play a little bit like Ivy but for the most part his moveset would be original. I was thinking he'd have two stances, one would have the chain wrapped around his right forearm and he'd hold the chain right under the shackles in his hand, this would be a fast, powerful, but extremely short ranged stance in which he used his right hand and forearm as his primary weapon. The other stance would involve him holding the chain a couple feet below the shackles in his right hand and the rest of the slack in his left. His chain wouldn't be nearly as long as Ivy's whip so his range in this stance would be short/medium-medium with no really long range attacks.

I figured his moves would be named after crimes and ways of describing crimes like "Bloody murder" "Homicide" maybe a command throw or unblockable called "The perfect crime"

I put an embarrassing amount of thought into this I know but here it is.

Backstory:A brilliant British surgeon named Leonicus Masterson who fell from grace due to a malpractice lawsuit that he really wasn't at fault in. He was framed for it by Nightmare and then sued by Tira in some sort of massive government conspiracy. He was out of work for a couple weeks and on the verge of getting a new job when someone burnt his house down, causing the violent, fiery deaths of his wife and children.

He now wanders the streets, homeless and alone on his quest for truth and justice, calling himself...

Dr. Hobo.

Outfit: Ragged lab coat with bare chest beneath, stethoscope, glasses (one lens cracked), surgeon's mask, dilapidated wingtips, torn-up pantaloons, clear plastic surgical gloves.
Weapon: Rusty bone saw.

Key gameplay attributes: Dr. Hobo's attacks are built around attempting a successful "Liver Transplant" command throw, after which he receives a Nobel Peace Prize and leaves the fight in order to buy booze and beg for money on street corners.

Ending: Dr. Hobo interrogates Tira and discovers that his wife is in fact alive and had been living a secret life as a demon-slaying ninja. In anger over the deceit, he files for divorce and has his wife's favorite swords seized. He serrates the blade of one and adds it to his bone saw. The scene closes out with Dr. Hobo seen triumphant in divorce court raising Soul Edge in one hand and the modified bone saw in the other.

What is embarrassing about being able to be thoughtful and creative. As you can see through out this whole post, I can't come up with an idea for shit! It just seems that I am incapable of having a creative thought at all. So be happy that you could sit and think on something because I'm just to stupid to be able to do that.

Now, I think the next step is people should have illustrations with there creations.

This has been said above aswell but what I like would be some kind of Attack Throw specialist.

I will call him "Mister X" for now.

Mister X has 2 hidden blades in each of his sleeves and he wears them the same way as Altair in the game Assasins Creed. His playstyle would be main focus on attack throws. And even combo attack throws. He also has one special attack throw that impales the target in his right/left foot with a hidden sword under his vestments. During this the victim cannot use any 8wayrun at all(this includes jumping so no 8A/B/K moves), he/she can still block ofcourse. This makes Mister X go into a special stance in wich he can do a mix-up like the other varial stances in the game (Crane stance, Crawl stance for example). I don't know if we should give him a auto-GI in this stance since the enemy can't move, so if he could do that that would be kinda overpowered. He also has ground attack throws.

I like this concept alot but ofcourse Mister X must also have some negative sides.
For once he relies on attack throws alot and since you need to hit for that, so if you block you negate his entire attack combo. Most of his attack throws are unsafe aswell. In his stance every hit against Mister X will be a counterhit ofcourse.

Mister X has Just moves aswell and most of his just moves are moves wich are unsafe strings by itself but with a just move added they become safe (so the better your timing the safer you can play him).

I do think this character is doomed to be overpowered or being too much of a irritating charcter to play versus so I'll just shut my mouth now ^^

...a man who is addicted to crime, from murder to assault, I picture him as extremely pale and gaunt from spending most of his life locked in various prisons and dungeons away from the sun. I like this concept as well. Cool idea for a character, and the weapon would have alot of similar moves to a meteor hammer or manriki chain, so there would be lots of examples to construct a decent moveset from. Especially since the chains wrapped around this character's arms/hands could be used for blocking and some close up strikes.

Except for the pale and gaunt part, for some reason I'm picturing that one ghost from the 13th ghost (?). The main killer one that broke that one guy in half. Anybody remember that?

IIRC the project soul team used to start with the weapon, then the fighting style, then the gender, then the stats, then the background story. Sounds like you guys are going backwards.

Yeah, it does seem to be.
My original ideas (in the openning post) came about that way (weapon first). But there are a few concepts in here I enjoy. Though, new weapon styles are my main draw of these character ideas.
However, I suppose if an idea still ends up a solid one, it may not really matter which direction got it there...

I think guest characters could be a whole thread on it's own...
Though it's likely that it's already been done.
Always new ideas though, even on old thread topics.

How about a dark character with a traditional long sword? Similar to Sieg in style, except brutal and practical at the same time. A fast and devastating style, but not as unpolished and vulnerable as NM's.

Imagine NM's 2A+B, except he puts his entire weight on the sword, steps on the opponent's face, and grinds the stomach around. He can have NM's b:a off Nightside stance, except it would guardbreak and hit middle (BROKEN LULZ), and modified Sieg's A+B off...basically every stance. Lots of quick, abusable stuns, and deadly punishers. No real pokes, though.

Character-wise, not teenage, angsty crap like Siegfried. Someone more experienced and yet not in his 30s yet, and doesn't lament his fate every time he opens his mouth.

He can look like Oswald from Odin Sphere, and a slightly edited personality, kinda like...uh...well, pissed off, serious, bloodthirsty, and quiet. Yeah, like Vergil from DMC3. Give him NM's voiceset with a deep human tone.

Entrance: "...I'll tear your head off..." "Annoying filth." "Out of the way. NOW."

Taunt: "Afraid?"

Win quotes: "Piss off, weakling." "Pathetic." "Next time, you won't get off this easy."

I want another Projectile based character that would be game breaking.

Just give him a gun that shoots shurikens surrounded by lightning. And while the devs are at it, give it some tits and light it on fire to create the most badass weapon ever.
