My guess is there's probably two main factors. The first is perhaps incidentally contributing to the second creating a negative feedback loop subtly compounding the issue. I haven't looked into this much myself but it seems where once most people who frequented here used to gather in the chatroom on this website it seems at some point Jaxel integrated a Discord chatroom replacing this.

Discord is OK I guess for immediate conversation and my guess is most of the immediate activity goes on there now and in my experience most of the actual activity on this site itself was always in the old chatroom or through the PM system which still exists but Discord itself also offers such functionality acting like a kind of black hole where all even tangentally 8wayrun related activity goes to die so to speak.

Jaxel may have inadvertently directed them away from the actual site which alongside the growing insecurity of the community has made people hesitant to post much out in the open for fear of perhaps how shall we say, discord, which if it does happen tends toward mostly just a small amount of pining for a new title to rejuvenate both the life of the series and our community.

That would be my guess anyway.
