Default Best psp for BD??

Hey,

can somebody please enlight me on the different psp versions?

Since im almost 100% sure that IF i buy a psp it wont see anything besides SC BD im specially interested in the DIGIPAD...do following versions of it have significant differences on the digipad or buttons??

-PSP-1000
-PSP-2000 (Slim & Lite)
-PSP-3000
-PSP N-1000 (PSP go)

Hope you can share your experiences...since i play Cervantes i really need a good pad :P

Kind regards, doc.

EDIT:

When i see this pic here it really looks like the buttons are very small and narrow, also the didpad is very close to the buttons....looks like if you have a big thumb you gonna have problems with the edge over B button....

I owned a PSP-1000 for a long while before having to find a replacement early this year, when I got a PSP-2000. The PSP-2000's controls feel MUCH better than my 1000 did (especially the Dpad). I've heard that the 3000 feels identical to the 2000 controlwise, but has a brighter screen.

I don't know what to say about the Go though, that shit looks horribly uncomfortable.

PSP Go>PSP3000>PSP1000. (PSP2000=? Not familiar.)

The PSP Go tentatively wins because it appears to support PS3 controllers. Once it's confirmed that that works in Soul Calibur, that's the hardware to beat. It also supports TV output, and you can even get a joystick that might be compatible if you buy the Tekken 6 PS3 bundle. (Basic compatibility of joystick not confirmed, Soul Calibur standard button map compatibility not confirmed.) As for the pad that's actually built into the Go, I agree that it doesn't look good, but reviewers generally seem to approve. I expect someone to dislike it eventually, but maybe not. It sounds like it might be similar to the Game Boy Advance SP, which I think could work.

The next best option would be the PSP-3000. The housing that holds the directional pad is deeply recessed in the center, giving it ease of movement comparable to an old-fashioned rocking Nintendo D-pad. It also supports TV output. The PSP-2000 is extremely similar, if not functionally identical to the PSP-3000, though I don't think it supports as high fidelity a TV output signal as the 3000.

The 1000 is the obvious dog of the group. It's heavy as a brick, with uncomfortable hard angles in places. The center of the D-pad is not comfortably recessed like the 3000, so rolling inputs are a pain, and it doesn't support TV output. Stay away from it.

If I had the patience, and I could only afford one, I'd definetly wait a month and get the Go.

Thanks Phil,

PS3 Pad for the GO sounds nice, the only Problem-->Price in Europe: 360 US Dollar. Now add a Pad, the game...^^

Thats not affordable, im not going to support that fucking price-policy sony has in europe, they just charge everything in Euro instead of US-Dollars, which is a slap in our face imo.

When you say the Go supports PS3 controllers, do you mean for any game played on it or only certain titles? I've heard silly things like it being a game specific feature. Along with video output, that could be rather comfortable.

If the Go's controls do turn out to be comfortable, then cool. If not though, it might kill the purpose of it being a portable gaming system for some users. Even if you could use a PS3 controller for it, you wouldn't want to take one with you all the time.

So if you have a PS3 controller, the PSP Go might be your perfect choice after some details are known. If not, 3000 or 2000 models might be a better fit.

And about video output, I think the only difference between the 2000 and the 3000 is some enhanced color vibrance. They both output games at a 1:1 ratio on the screen (though the PSP's menus display fullscreen).

The 2000 and the 3000 both output to the same image size, but (just checked Wikipedia) only the 3000 supports an interlaced frame rate.

The specifics on PS3 controller compatibility are not known. This is the closest thing I've seen so far to absolute confirmation, but I have yet to see anyone say definitively that PS3 controllers will be compatible with all games. (I blame the general lack of professionalism of game journalists all over the world.) It's starting to look pretty safe to assume, though. The detail that the L2, R2, L3 and R3 don't work was expectable, but could be a very bad sign for those of us who want to use our Tekken 6 sticks.

Im playing BD with PS2 controller at home and I have a 2000 model... When I first tried the game, was on a fat, and damn, 3B was as hard as Yoshi´s JF 4A´s... But the 2000 is another story, the d-pad is even better than the PS3 one, by far...
And the buttons are OK, but the problem is that they are too small...
An ergonomic attachment may come handy, cause I really like the slim´s dpad and buttons, but even if i got small hands, it´s painful after a while.

Playing with a PS2 controller rulez, with a homebrew, you can even record commands... I tried to record Yoshi´s JF 4A, but even the macro failed some times, hehehe... And better not to speak about iMCF, I can get those better than the macro.
And record videos with high quality and sound, has never been easier, just press F12 to start and F12 to stop.
BTW, I didn´t bought a psp 3000 cause I read some bad things about it at ign and other sites, regarding the colors and some blur effects in the console, but I don´t know if they already fixed that.

People stuck with a PSP phat do have an option.

http://www.ufighterx.com/guides/vide...pspdpadfix.htm

Just gotta wedge the d pad up a little, and then it magically registers diagonals etc.

I played SC: BD on both the Phat and Slim. I'm comfortable with the Slim PSP, but since I own the Phat PSP, it's alright. I can rarely pull off Amy's more advanced moves on the Phat PSPs, and yet I can pull it off easily on the Slim PSPs.

I'm not sure about the PSP-3000 and PSP Go though.

It's OK. It's not exactly perfectly placed, tiny, and it's difficult to consistently hit the direction you want (the distinction between 6 and 3 is very slight).

The Phat has another issue. There's a dome shape in between the buttons. This makes pressing three buttons at once extremely difficult. (Had to map A+K and B+G to the shoulder buttons since they're more useful than A+B+K in most situations.)

I liked the PSP 1000 better than my current 2000. THe slick back of the 2000 makes it hard to grip, and it looks gross with all the fingerprints. PSP 1000 is better for the grip.

It would be great if they made a psp with a usb slot for a PS3 controller.

Obviously you require Mint Green.

And to think, I almost had my hands on a Lavender model.
