heh, beat me to it.

Bailey, check out "Home of Lau" thread's first post. Basically, we setup a mini-ongoing tourney kind of thing but we lvl up as we go. ppl can challenge each other once per visit and the winner can decide to promote himself or demote the opponent by 1 lvl. Its kind of like rank match. By doing we so, in makes that certain grudge match more exciting.

Davo that made next to no sense. And is there a SC4 scene in Taiwan? I'm possibly going there for Computek.

It's still on. Heck I went through the trouble of not only convincing Hobo to come to my place, but also to go to FightClub after wards.

Grargh!

My A button died again today and it took me about forty five minutes of unscrewing and fiddling around to work out what the problem is. As far as I can tell, the actual sensor, not the plastic plunger that pushes down on the sensor, but the actual sensor itself is either loose or out of position, because I was only able to get the A button to work again after fiddling with the wires which connect through the back to the sensor and after a bit of tapping and poking around that area as well.

In short... if my A button dies tomorrow then damn, yeah. Does anyone know if it is possible to disconnect the wires from the sensor without breaking things? If so I can simply switch the sensors for the A button and one of the others that I don't use, but that would need me to disconnect the wires first, so...

But on another note... those of you who were around when I first bought the stick might vaguely remember all the complaining I did after my order to play-asia for the stick got into a bit of a mix up... the end result - trust me, don't ask about the details - was that I ended up with two sticks, one of them the white model, the other the usual black and red variety. It cost me extra at the time, but back then the Aussie dollar was roughly equal to the American dollar so I didn't think it was worth complaining... serendipity?

And Davo, I don't think I've ever met any of the Taiwanese players, at least not that I can remember. Can you ask them where they met me? I've never even been to Taiwan...

They probably lived in sydney b4 and have tawianese bg. well, guess Ill findout soon.

Disconnecting the wires? arent they soldered on top? No A-button sounds like no nightmare and seig for the time being except for raph. Now that u mentioned, I wish I kept the ps3 HRAP I bought when the AU dollar was still good. That way, I couldve mod it with 360 pcb. Sigh... Everything was good back then.

Maybe it was me they met. I do recall mentioning something to two Asian fellows at uni while playing them on the SC2 machine that WE USED TO HAVE. = (

I plan on coming tomorrow. Hooray!

Read what I posted, Davo. Due to some rather awkward circumstances, I in fact have another HRAP3 - the standard red and black one. At the moment, I've also managed to get the A button working again...

If you open up a HRAP, you can easily remove the plastic bits that push down on the sensors for the button, my problem is that the wires are connected to the bottom of the sensor and the sensor component is shaped in such a way that you can't push it down and out of the button socket either. This means you have to - as far as I can tell - disconnect the wires that lead into the sensor to remove the sensor and switch it out with another one, but I really don't know if that's a good idea.

Maybe I should just start using the other stick... but I like the A button on the white stick... all that iagA practice is probably what made it dodgy, but it also means that it's really sensitive...

====== DOUBLE POST AUTO-MERGE ======
Hmmm... I'll probably bring the other stick tomorrow, take it for a "test drive", because it'd be lame if I dragged the white one all the way there and then the A button died on me... I mean, I could remap the buttons, but that still wouldn't let me hit iagA properly because then I couldn't reach the new A button with my left thumb...

So yeah, looks like I'll be using a different stick till I work out how to address the problem...

Grargh... why does this stuff always have to happen at 3:00 AM in the morning?

@Ljkabookie: no wonder you weren't picking up when I called you...

On another note, I switched the button sensor for my A button with the sensor for L1, so we'll see how that goes.

Davo: How were the Taiwanese guys, and did they actually know me?

And yeah...

Yoda was pretty funny. I lost the first two rounds because I kept trying to throw you on reflex as well as use combos that didn't actually work. I can't believe how many times I did 6K or GS A in those rounds. Still, it was okay once I reverted to the tried and true method of 1K, 3K, 3B, 1A, and 22B... what was really funny was that it was easier to fight Yoda with Apprentice than with NM, because Apprentice has a solid BB and 2A, which are what you really need when fighting Yoda. Yoda really is aggravating against slow characters or characters who rely a lot on highs or throws like NM. Sieg would probably do better too, because he was b6, 3B and 22k:a:2A and all that stuff, which NM doesn't have. By the way Runis... have you been practising Yoda? You seemed to know what you were doing with the force cancel jumping stuff...

I really should learn Amy properly too... that 6:6B JF combo just looks so cool...

And how was GG's?

Good to catch up with Bailey and Runis again today!

I have some good news about SC4 at OHN this July, it's definitely back on =]

The site should be up in a few days, and I just need to update the rules a little. At the moment it looks like we want to keep everything basically the same, no characters banned except for bonus and custom. Vader, Yoda, Algol and Hilde (lol) are not banned. What we do want to change (right?) is that macros are back, but Hilde cannot map 2xA and 2xB. I think this will be much easier to do in practice than how we had it before. Let me know if I'm missing anything plz.

Also LG and Davo, do you guys want to be judges again? I'm already listed as a judge, but will need co-judges just in case something happens and I need to be in 2 places at once.

Extra bit of news re: SF4 - it will definitely be on consoles. We only really have 1 arcade cabinet available, and it will be much easier and more fair to make it double elim 2/3 (yet to be 100% confirmed, but I think this is right), and have several SF4 setups on console. There most likely won't be any character bans either, so Seth, Gouken, etc should definitely be allowed (Sagat still seems to be top tier anyway).

Lastly - LG, your HRAP3s should just have quick disconnects on the back of the buttons, so it should be fairly easy to swap your A button for one of the others that aren't used as much. Check out this guide here: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=132472

If the buttons appear to be soldered directly to a circuit board (not too likely) then you would need to desolder the connections to all the buttons before swapping them around. Usually you'd only need to do this if you had a game-branded HRAP (such as the SC3, Arcana Hearts, Death Smiles, etc) or some other brand of stick like Hori Fighting Stick 3 or Hori EX2.

GGs was fun btw =]
