However, if you're going to play online, the basics are different to begin with.
Online SC and Offline SC are completely different experiences :) If you want to join us, playing online first will only disappoint you at a later date :P

hey guys, it's only 4 more days to our dec 20 event! just two reminders (until i remember something else to remind about):

- please bring your soul sg t-shirts to the event! you don't have to wear them, but in the event that we need your help for umpire duty, we'd like you to wear the soul sg shirts to differentiate you from the rest of the crowd. :) in the event that you don't have a soul sg t-shirt, please feel free to buy our new soul sg t-shirts, updated with our blog address (selling at $12, no profit margin at all)!

- please don't forget to bring whatever multiplugs, power strips, and lanyards you have! we won't be able to operate without power outlets...

- for the veterans: kindly bring $10 for contributions to the rental cost!! any remainder will be used to pay for refreshments and miscellaneous equipment. in the event that there's STILL remaining funds, it will then go towards the cost of the t-shirt gifts for sony personnel/our hk friends during the hk tourney (i'm currently covering the cost of the t-shirts: 4 x $12 = $48). any FURTHER remainders will be distributed back to the community.

I think I'll give this a miss, but if you guys plan to record the fights down on DVD, I would be happy to buy it.

Selling the recorded matches on DVD is also a good way for promotion and additional funds to keep the club going. :-D

Just wanted to clarify TaXi's post a little - the $10 contributions to rental costs only applies to Soul Sg Veterans.

The tourney has a registration free of $5. But participation is voluntary - everyone can still hang around / mingle / and play casuals...

I'm a noob, though, and can't do GIs or JIs or anything advance, but fighting real people and losing is way funner than fighting CPU and winning.

Umm.. why don't you just join us for the Sc4 event ?
Toa Payoh MRT station isnt that far :) plus most of the other players are also travelling from Jurong West or Tampines.

If you're unsure about the place, or how to get there, post up - we can arrange to meet at the MRT station before proceeding as a group.

I'd like to think that the Soul SG community isn't too intimidating. Plus by meeting up in person, the more experienced players can answer any queries you have about the game, and we have tutorial handouts for persons interested in a deeper understanding of the game. (and everyone can exchange gamer tags / PSN ids too)

No worries just because you're new, because well, everyone starts off like that.

Also, this is a shoutout to everyone who's watched Voldo Dance 4, loved it, and showed it to their friends.
Voldo Dance 4 has hit 100,000 views within its FIRST WEEK and almost 1000 encouraging comments and ratings have been given thus far! (Numbers taken from the links to the video on youtube, gametrailers and Kotaku.com) This has been the most warming response anyone in our community has received for our work and I believe I can safely speak on the behalf of everyone who worked on the project that we are grateful for the support.

I am personally excited that we have managed to hit 100k hits before tomorrow, which is the day of our first Soul Calibur IV tournament. Its been a fantastic week for Soul Singapore and we hope we'll be able to bring more attention and exposure to the game that has brought us together.

With that, I'd like to remind everyone.. if you happen to have a friend who has NOT been hit by our resident, blinded, smooth criminal... Please amend that with haste!
