So I might as well get these shoutouts out of the way.
Shoutout to everyone who came to Winter Brawl and competed in SC4. I wish more people were able to come through, but I had fun regardless. Even if 4 people show up, I'll still be hyped for SC4, especially when I am on that 5 hour energy. There were so many intense matches that took place at this tournament. I wish we had them filmed but oh well. Yo ass should have been here to witness it. The team tournament was also intense. Next time, we are putting bitches out. Just wait. Before you know it, GVN Summer Jam will be here in August, so if you couldn't make it this time, you have time to plan. Come on down and join the fun. We'll also be recording matches. I'll be coming through with more treats, Corona, and Jewish wine which I am dranking on right now. So delicious. Next time, I will do more challenges/money matches. I wanted to do more, but before you knew it, it was 3AM and I was probably on the verge of getting kicked out the hotel for yelling at people. But I'm funny as hell though so it's all good. Shoutouts: 350z: Glad you were able to come through. Sierra Nevada is some good ass beer. We're getting a room next time. Sporko: One minute you wanted to go holla at some chicks, then the next minute you were out like a light. Next time though. Good shit doing gay stuff with Voldo. Aaaaaayyyyyyuuuuuuusssss!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bibulus: Sorry I had to put you out in SF4. Out of all them people, we get matched up in losers. Good games though. Ramon: Good shit winning the tournament. You are going down. Woahhzz: You shouldn't let Ramon whoop that ass like you stole something. Get that revenge. Rigel: I'm coming for that ass. Ivan the Terrible: Glad you were able to come through. I'm coming for that ass next time. I didn't win a match against you. And you have me dying with these Mitsu canned mixups. Put 8A+B away. Put them gold ass shoes away. Hook me up with that sextape. Kikaleek: GGs. I got to stop losing to Yoshi. I'll figure out how to beat that flying shit. I'm going to start calling you cookie monster now. You pretty much raped my box of Chips Ahoy. I like cookies too, but damn son. :-) Jian: Next time we need to get more games in. Idlemind: Hopefully you got enough sleep. You looked like a zombie. Next time, strippers. JRWR7: Stop raging so much. I'm coming for that ass next time in Bowling. 10 frame money match. Let's go! Taco Bell: Thanks for not putting Nacho Cheese on my Nacho Cheese Chalupa and for giving me some random ass burrito. GGs. Corona: I love you. Sierra Nevada: You were good. Imma holla at you next time. Potholes: I hate you. Big E & Hubbs: Good shit putting this tournament together. Can't wait for Summer Jam. It only needs to be one day. Just get another room to run stuff out of if needed. To everyone else; Thanks again for coming out. Always come out to Philly for Calibur because we'll be having mad fun playing it. |

Atlantic East Coast players, you are all the very backbone of the Soul Calibur scene from New England to Delaware. You make coming out to these tournaments a pleasure (well, except for the fact that I hate SC4), and your dedication to traveling and the spirit of competition is nothing short of admirable. This tournament was a blast. I can’t tell you all how awesome it is to have tournaments in the Philadelphia area. For almost two years, I was the only Philadelphia SC player in SC3. Now, there are plenty of us in the area, and Woahhzz is simply fantastic (and he plays Ivy, too—can I get a hell yeah?). Philadelphia isn’t just a great city; it’s a great area, and I’m always willing to tell people that, and, hopefully, you see that for yourselves when you come to play.
Anyway, a big thank you to Eric and Hubbs for organizing the tournament. The venue is great, and the location is pretty good (and the bar has Sierra Nevada on tap!). I would like to have one more set up for SC to make the tournaments run even faster, but you’ve struck gold with this place. I hope you can keep it for a while. My only complain is that tournaments start too late. I can understand an hour—maybe even two—of running behind schedule. But we have to figure something out for the future… Team New England: It was obvious to everyone there that you guys were tired as hell. And because you managed through that, you are all just plain awesome. Thank you very much for making the trek to Philadelphia. I hope that I can return the favor sometime and make it to a New England tournament. You are all very talented players. I like how you travel together, kick people’s asses at the game, hang-out and be cool, and roll the hell out. Team Murder and Cheesesteaks is going to be the same way. It always seems as if something comes up for me, and I never really get the chance to play many of you. I hope that can change sometime. Kiakleek: We will have to play some time. Nice playing—scary Yoshimitsu. You’re always in a tournament towards the end. You were a real trooper for hanging in there; you looked downright exhausted when I was talking to you. Jian: We didn’t get our FT10 in, but it was good games as usual. I hope we can get that in the next time. It seemed odd that you were the only New Englander that wasn’t tired. Idlemind: Next time, we will have to sit down and have a drink or something and just shoot the shit. I wanted to talk to you after that last PM I sent you, but you were beat, and I had to leave. I hope we get the chance next time. Great playing in the team tournament. I didn’t know you played Astaroth. You got me in the final round. I owe you one, lol. Maybe I will see at GAMME… PhoenixIvan777: Real rap: You are the shit—just cool people. Our matches should be recorded. They always come down to the very end! Occasionally, I throw in the stinker, but in the tournament matches we have played, our matches go down to the very last hit. I got to go to school on Mitsurugi. I really am going to learn how to play Mitsurugi, and you really showed me a great deal. JJJ: You were in control of your match with Woahhzz. I don’t know how you lost that one. Anyway, good games. I look forward to having you come out a bit more. Rigel: This was the first tournament where we didn’t have one of our epic come down to the last second, last bit of health in a while. In fact, we didn’t play at all, lol. Piggy: Thanks for making the trip from State College. You played well (and you’re right, I had no idea what to do against Raphael, but once I figured out some things, I was ready). Like I told you, I’m a PSU grad, and the next time I’m in the Center County area, we’ll have to play some more and grab a beer or two from Zenos. JRWR7: John, it has to be because we are close in age that we get along so well. I just wish I had a little more time to spend hanging out this weekend. Family and personal obligations kept me from hanging out and playing casuals with you later. You have truly come so far! You are far more dangerous than you believe. I think if you changed a few things then you would have won the matches that you lost. Like I said, use your frame advantage and mix-ups to your advantage during match play. Your use of combos and evasive moves are really very good. You can inflict are great deal of damage on your opponents, so keep the pressure up. The next time we meet, I am sure you will be even more dangerous. Ramon: I saved that tie for you since the last tournament, and I didn’t get the chance to show it to you; it’s hilarious. When I saw purple shit all over the car, and half of the chewed up tie hanging out my car door, I should have taken a picture, lol. Anyway, you played great this weekend. You made BB a major attack against Woahhzz. You played brilliantly this weekend. I really thought Sporko was going to surprise you—especially when he won the first match in your MM. I don’t know if there is anyone else in the entire SC scene who has the ability to adapt as quickly as you do. Really good shit this weekend. Woahhzz: I hate Setsuka…lol. It doesn’t hurt that you can see right through my game either, lol. Excellence from you as usual. People remark at how wonderful a player you are, completely ignoring your awesome knowledge of the game. You might be young, but it’s your knowledge of the game that makes you not just great with Ivy, but a great SC4 player overall. You’re younger (and shorter) than I, but I have to say that I look up to you in this game. Be careful when playing Ramon, Ramon’s sense of yomi is devastating—right up there with yours. It’s what makes him great. I think a bit more pressure with the command throws against him may tip the scale in your favor. Bibulus: You and Doug have combined to put me out of the last four tornaments that I have entered. I must learn how to play against Voldo. I’m just a free for you two right now. I can no longer tolerate that. I have to do something about it—or just quit. Anyway, you are past due for a tournament win. I didn’t see your match against Rigel, but when you are on, I just don’t see how you lose. It is my sincerest belief that the only person able to defeat you is yourself. Go win one—well, after I do…if you don’t force me to quit first. ZeroEffect: Great playing as usual. I managed to pull this one out. I know I have to be careful in our next match because you will be even sharper. You always have such great insight to the game. I just want to sit down and talk some game strats with you. I think you are pretty spot on with your observation about my play, and I need all the help that I can get right now. I still hate Talim—even though I am still president of the ZeroEffect fan club, lol. Team Murder and Cheesesteaks: I’m not going to lie: the results for me at this tournament have me discouraged, and I have given some major consideration to stopping again. I don’t know what it is about the Sheraton, but I just don’t play well there. Speaking honestly, seventh is not good enough for me at this point. But you guys were the real fucking deal. You really inspired me in the team battle. I couldn’t be prouder of you guys! I was definitely the weak link on the team. You carried me in the team tournament. I can’t believe that I lost three matches, lol. I never understood what was so different about team battle. Yo, it is so intense, lol. I have never been into so into battles that weren’t my own before, lol. I loved it. InsaneKhent: Where were you? I didn’t see you there at all. Jaxel: Get your ass out of that room and get to these tournaments. Maxx: Get your ass back here. You miss being CSed into oblivion, lol… 350z: WIIL YOU FINALLY THROW AWAY THAT BROKEN-ASS CONTROLLER?! You stunk it up this tournament. Learn how to play against Voldo. No. Just learn how to play, asshole… Great seeing everyone. Great playing to everyone. Sorry if I forgot anyone, but I will catch you all later. |

Soul Calibur? I have played this game exactly 3 times since NEC X (worst tournament ever!) and not for even one minute since I was up in NYC before Christmas. Needless to say, I did way better than I thought I would, and kept it close in the games I lost...Hooray for not last place...double hooray for better than Jer!
Shoutouts: 350z - Hooray for a PSU grad...boo for JF CS! Next time maybe I'll warm up a bit and remember all of my shenanigans...beware the CF (it worked at Evo!)! Bibulous - Always nice to see ya 'round Ramon - Your plaque felt nice against my sack! Enjoy the smell of my nut butter on your wall. Malice - Get your boys to lay down the law to have these things start on time so I have time to eat a damn cheesesteak! Jer - Trash as always Jian, Sporko - I almost didn't recognize you kids with your pants on...and I must say...I sort of liked that! Philly - I still hate you, but not quite as much as I did after NEC...maybe next time! SC4 - you are a cute game... |

I want these tournaments to start on time too, but people need to start getting here on time. I don’t remember everyone being here by 2PM unless I am mistaken. I’m sure if they were, we would have gone right into the team tournament which was supposed to start at that time, then singles at 4PM.
If mad people come to the tournament, then a third setup would be no problem. Along with coming on time, you guys need to also preregister so Eric and Hubbs have some idea on how many to expect and how many setups would be needed to run the tournament efficiently. 3 setups would have made the tourney run quicker, but 2 setups are fine for 16 people. You always see me help out wherever I can, so more people need to do the same, especially in tournaments where so many other games are going on at the same time. I like playing in tournaments, but I’m trying to do other things on a Saturday as well, especially at a major in a hotel. So the more you help out, the quicker we can get through the tournament, the quicker we can get to other things like money matches, alcohol, cheesesteaks, bars, women, strippers, virtual bowling, etc. I was trying to get a cheesesteak and see some chicks, but before I knew it, it was 12AM and people started going to sleep. But I can’t think of anyone who came through and did not have a great time at GVN, even the people who did not enter the singles tournament. Also, the east coast is continuing to hold it down and be the backbone for Soul Calibur in America. I want Philly to someday be the home for Calibur. Plus Philly is an awesome city to be at. There’s just so much to do here, great food, tons of bars & clubs, culture out the butt, sports, whatever. Just holla at me. I wish the ban talk would just go away at this point so everyone can just focus on competing and having a great time like we had at GVN, but people will continue to bring it up. I’m thinking long term and in the long run, the ban is good for this game. Look at all the people already on this forum wishing for SC5 when SC4 still has a lot of life in it. Also, the east coast just had it’s 5th tournament in a 6 week period for Calibur. Who else is doing that? Not only that, we had two major storms that brought several feet of snow along with another storm that occurred this past weekend that kept people from coming. Not only did people still come out for Calibur, but we got singles in and a 3 on 3 team tournament in when we could pretty much figure out who would win that one. If all that doesn't deserve any props just because of 2 characters that were banned, then whatever. But I had more fun at GVN then I did at NEC, especially in that team tournament which was intense. Let's keep it going. And I hope more people come through when Summer Jam is officially announced. Don't forget the monthlies that are now taking place in Philly as well. Get hype! |

Aight my turn...
Ramon - First of all, good job on winning the tournament.....again. heh, nah for real, I really do respect your consistency and your ability as a player. GGs too. I have to say, after looking back on our matches in casuals, I pretty much know where I lost, but I'm not sure how to stop it yet. I just have to know though, why do you say Sophitia is so hard to win with? Granted I don't know any other Sophies winning tourneys, but I'm just curious. Seems like she has the tools to win without even using mixups. Even so you earned that plaque, man. Rigel - we didn't play, but thanks for lettin' me and everyone else hangout in your room after the tourney. good times. 350z - Heh, thanks man. Really though, I just can't seem to beat you in tournament anymore. It wasn't luck, though. And Ivy just does so much damage. I honestly thought when I won that first round I had a chance to beat you, but it wasn't to be. Next time we play at Doug's, I'll use Voldo so you can see what I'm talking about on how to approach him. Malice - Man, our tourney match was intense. That was the best you've ever played against me. I couldn't believe how many throws and Windsaults you guessed (and punished). That match should've been recorded, I did not think I'd win that once you had momentum. And that bowling was intense too. Sporko - You may have felt that you placed lower than you should've (I felt that way about myself too, honestly) but you really represented in the team tourney. If your goal is to beat Ramon, than go for it. It's always good to aim high. Wished I could've watched your SF4 matches and see those Tornado throws. Jian - Man, I think there's no reason why you whooped my ass in the tourney. It never goes that way in casuals, so the problem must be with me. Don't get me wrong though, you are a very good player. I wanted to get that FT5 in, but you was KOed. I wasn't gonna go wake you up at 4am to do it. Heh, GGs though. Ivan - You are really good man. I think I see what I have to do to beat that MST stuff now after watching our FT5. Your reaction time is just as good as my own, so it was interesting to fight someone with similar abilities and using a character I don't have too much experience against. GGs man. And please... leave that 8A+B move at home next time. Jrwr7 - I know you've heard it said a million times, but you really have gotten a lot better. As I said work on doing the highest damaging combos you can for now. You can work up to getting ringouts. Make people afraid to block 2B+K, then make them afraid to eat it. Keep at it. Woahhzz - We love lag calibur and stingy vending machines.... Kikaleek - GGs. Your iMCF execution is so retardedly good. I actually have to play somewhat defensively on seesaw... on SEESAW! Heh, our FT5 was awesome. And ya'll's catchphrase is awesome. Everyone else, good seeing you all too. Good times were had. |

It be time for some shout outs
Ramon-You are a monster. You are a giant cuddly terror-beast. I want to beat you because your natural playstyle, combined with the fact that you play sophie, makes you (well, you and thugish) the hardest opponent I've ever had to play, and I've never beaten you. THAT is why I want to beat you so bad, you represent a challenge I need to overcome, but you're also a super awesome dude so trust me when I say it is nothing personal. <3 Congrats on winning Kikaleek-We had good matches, as always. I loved hosting you and the mass guys here, and would be glad to do so anytime. And don't take it hard, you're still up on me in tournament matches... you bastard. *shakes fist* Jian-YOU ALSO BASTARD. Amazing playing you, as always. Good job beating me in the team tourney. Ivan-dude you are a really, really impressive player. Plus you're a funny dude. I look forward to some fights with you in the future Idle-We didn't really get to play, but, we will always have pathfinder. <3 Plus you were totally right about just being salty and needing to sleep, heh. Bibulus-We had a great match in tourney, as we *always* do. Seriously, you and I haven't ever had a tournament match that wasn't tense, close, and alltogether rocking. Whether tourney or casuals, we always go very close and there is never any shame in being beat by you, because you're awesome. Rigel-you are Rigel. Good job on getting third Woahhzz-WOAHHZZ!!!!!!!!!! I got nothing, but congrats on being way too fucking good, as usual. Malice, 350z-IT'S CALIBUR BABY! I'm sorry I let you guys down in the second team tourney match, but we will go out and fuck them up next time. And Larry, we'll work on some gay ass Voldo shit sometime soon. Zeroeffect-Thanks, man! Let's you and I go top two next tourney and show all those bastards what's what. Also, Street Fighter actually went really well all things considered. I went 0-2, but I won a match in each set, and one of the guys I played (don't know who the other one is) ended up placing 13th, so he must have been half decent. I also got a bye, so I didn't end up in last place. All in all, for a first tourney, not that bad. |
