My name's David, I live in Bristol in the UK, and I'm strictly an online player due to having no offline friends in reachable distance and not enough time to dedicate to the game to become the kind of God player you need to be to have a chance in tournaments.
I aim to be upper tier online casual. A good player, but not one who'll have a chance against the really good players. |

Ahh jesus I feel like this introduction is the first day of an AA meeting "Hello my name is Mikey from Salem Massachusetts and i've been addicted to competitive gaming for 13 years now"
Well anyway I've been playing since Soul Edge in the Foxwoods arcade when i was a wee lad (good times as a child..parents abandon you to gamble..what better place?). I didn't take any fighting game seriously untill SC 2 and even then i just thought i was god because i could perfect my scrub friends in highschool..*sigh* if i only had known what a truely good player was back then. Skipped SC 3 because from what i hear it was a dirty napkin. I love reading all the information on the forums it has def. improved my game. Uhh...thats about it |

T-Licious here, Los Angeles.
My Soul Calibur career began when I and two co-workers did an assignment in Canada for 2 months... I took a Dreamcast and Soul Calibur along and it was our major source of entertainment; we all learned the game together. We came back to the states thinking we were badass and started challenging our friends, only to find out that in all that 2 months, not one of us had ever thought to press Guard. We had been playing SoCal as if the Guard button never even existed, pure offense and nothing else. I am not kidding, we got so owned for a week or so, but once we started Guarding, we quickly got up to par. Ah, memories. Anyways, SoCal II was pure awesome and I got a new group of junkies together at a different company. About a week after SoCal III released, we decided it was ass and went back to II, sticking with it for another year or so. I was trepidatious about 4, but have decided after about a week that I love it wholeheartedly. I still think that 2 was the peak of art direction in a fighting game. 4 is... well, it's good, hell it's really really really good, but there's a sense of restraint that 2 had that is missing in 4. 4 just seems to go over the top in a lot of the character designs and I don't just mean the overendowed / underclad chicks. Anyways, that's one art student's opinion. SoCal Mains - Seong Mina, Ivy, Voldo, Astaroth, Taki. SoCal II Mains - Ivy, Raphael, Astaroth, Taki, Yoshimitsu. SoCal IV Mains - Ivy, Yoshimitsu. Still deciding whether to revive Astaroth & Taki, or start in on Setsuka and maybe Hilde? But I have plenty of time to decide, as Yoshi and especially the re-tooled Ivy will keep me busy for some time I am sure. |

Alright, I'll post.
I've been a Soul Calibur player since 1999. Played every one since the original Calibur and I went back to play Soul Blade eventually too. I treat Soul Calibur as one of the best (if not THE best) 3D fighting series out there and I'm interested in contributing to this site as much as possible. |

Um...Here goes...
I hadn't even heard of SoulCalibur until I had a retro session at my mates house last year and she put on SC2 on the gamecube. I then bought SC3 and still didn't understand the gameplay system. It's not like Tekkens simple: launch, 6 hits, go for Oki, that I'm used to. So I found myself just really flailing swords around for about a month. I got SC4 for my bday, still no expert, but I don't need to be since I play for fun only. I have trouble with JFs (especially Setsu, she'd be my second).

hey guys, i'm genver.
uhh...i've been playing sc since sc2...i took a break when sc3 came out, and didn't play it at all. now i'm back playing again, trying to shake the scrubby rust off my long inactive game. i usually play casual player matches, since ranked is full of spammers i can't beat lol. i don't know a lot of people that play sc, but if you live in the bay area, i'd be more than willing to get my ass handed to me in person. i play nightmare, mitsurugi, and setsuka an equal amount. maybe some talim here and there to represent filipinos lol |

Veto, been playing since the DC SCI days, but didn't really bother to practice my techniques... until SCIV and online play. Seriously, why play against the same friends you know you can beat over and over again? Hopefully I can learn some good stuff.

I guess I should have done this much much earlier.
Yes the name is tiggerkiddo, don't ask where I got the name from. It's better that way. I hail from from the capital of Colorado, and yea I really do wish I could move to San Antonio but it's still nice here. Like many others, I'm not a stranger to the SC series, having played SC on a limited basis and then having played SC2 and SC3 extensively. I only got into competitive gaming a year ago so I'm still pretty new. Only game I'm decent at is Tekken where I main Asuka, Jin and Xiayou. I play Xianghua, Talim and Starkiller (Limited basis) and well yea that's it. I also like to write so I apologize if I get wordy. |

I'm posting my little bio in here as well, to make my ascension to this forum official. :)
My name's Emil (with Mwab as my chosen game-name, a shortening of a name taken from "The Simpsons") and I live in Sweden. I first got into contact with Soul Calibur through the second game and played it for quite a while, mostly using Nightmare and Seung Mina. After some time my playing habits waned as my friends got tired of me slapping them around (quitters -.-) and little by little I stopped playing myself as well. I then bought the third installment when it hit the shelves but none of my friends felt very interested in it. I kept myself occupied with the various modes that it had to offer though, so I was content. I also came to appreciate Raphael more in the third game when they made him a bit more "vampire-esque". It might be a bit cookie cutter of a look, but I like noble bloodsuckers clad in clothes fitting a blue-blood. ;) Now in Soul Calibur 4 my friends have sort of re-joined me in my enthusiasm for the game, and so far we've had a few joyful evenings pounding away at each other. At first I just couldn't seem to find a character to stick with until I unlocked Ashlotte. More on this in the "Character Selection" thread that is going on. I have not gone online yet as I am still in the process of polishing my basic "Astaroth" skills. I've practically never played as him before, so his style takes some getting used to. You have to love the power that those swings possess though. And like Tigerkiddo above me, I have a tendency to get a bit long-winded when I start typing. That'd be all from me. For now, at least. |

Hello!!
I'm Megan. I found the calibur forums first but they were kind of rude. I asked a simple question and got told to post it somewhere that had nothing to do with my question and my thread was locked. anyhow, Seems to be some cool people here. I love SCIV and I look forward to hanging out with you guys.

I wanted to use the tag Kufi Smacker, but the forum filter nazi wouldn't let me, j/k. I played alot of the original SC on the DC and arcades. I frequented the original SC.com site, and guardimpact.com back in the day, although I wasn't very active in the community. Didn't do SC II much, and skipped III altogether. I was fairly competent at DoAU and 4 with Gen Fu, but DoA while fun, is pretty damn shallow and VERY unbalanced. I posted on the DoA boards under the same tag as well.
I prefer the digs here since its based off of the latest VB software and not that ancient 2.xx board. |
