Digital Ops, a LAN center in Ann Arbor, MI, is gonna have monthly fighting game tournaments.

This month is featuring Soul Calibur 4 (on 360) as well as a number of other games, namely
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom (Wii, but I'll have adapters ready so you can use a PS2 controller if you like.)
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix (360)
Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike (PS2)
Capcom vs. SNK 2 (PS2)
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core (PS2)
Tekken 5: DR (PS3)

and free side tourneys for:
Battle Fantasia (360)
and possibly Immaterial and Missing Power (PC)

Here's the location:
Digital Ops
525 E Liberty St.
Ann Arbor, MI 48104
734.994.1595
www.digitalops.com

You can find parking in a structure on Maynard street, less than a block away from the store. If you're standing in front of ops you can see the parking structure straight ahead.

If that's full up, the Downtown Library's parking lot is also very close by. It has entrances on Division and on 5th. Just drive west from Ops and turn left on 5th, and you'll see it on your left.

Neither option is free unfortunately, but it's hard to find free parking in Downtown Ann Arbor. Sorry guys.

Schedule:
Saturday, January 10th, 2009
12:00 - The store opens, and registration begins.
1:00 - Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, HD Remix, SC4, 3rd Strike, and IaMP start.
5:00 - Capcom vs. SNK2, Guilty Gear, Tekken 5, and Battle Fantasia start.

Other Stuff:
There's a $5 venue fee that goes to the store. You only pay this once no matter how many tournaments you're playing in.
It's $10 to enter each tournament. All this money will be given to the winners, split 70/20/10.

All games are played 2/3. Finals are 3/5.
No pausing unless you have a really good reason.
Bring your own controller. No turbo or button macros, or any of that stuff.
The brackets are double elimination, and will be seeded by location (so you don't have to play your friends right away.)

If you want to preregister visit the SRK thread: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=169272
Or just let me know in here.

And tell your friends!!

I hope to see some of you out there :)

Oh, so there will be SC4 and T5:DR there? Sweet... the pamphlet I saw only had the Capcom/GG stuff on it. I hope I can make it.

Should I add you to the prereg list for those 2 games?

Not yet. I don't know my schedule that far out and as I'm likely to get another job after my holiday work at Zingerman's ends, I can't guarantee that I'll be free. I should know after the first, however.

Not 100% sure I'll make this, but if I do I'll be in for SC4, Battle Fantasia, IaMP, and possibly TvC.

Sweet, I'll put you down for those.

You should definitely play TvC, we gotta support the new games!

What exactly is meant by turbo/button macros? Does that include ordinary control customization, such as setting A+K to right trigger?

Setting something like A+K to right trigger is allowed in Soul Calibur.

Turbo is a setting on some controllers that makes the game think you're pushing buttons super fast, instead of simply holding them down. This helps with link combos in some games.

Macros are special settings which allow you do do a command (like 236:A:) by pushing one button.

Neither of those are allowed.

Anyways, I'm glad to get more people ^.^
See ya there.

Personally, I think mapping any button to do more than one button's worth of work shouldn't be allowed, but that's just me. Anyway, I'm more than maybe, less than guaranteed right now... so go ahead and put me down for SC4 and T5:DR.

If you wanna get in on any money matches come to the SRK thread, there's a couple people throwing up challenges in there.

Is anyone other than myself actually sure that they're going? I don't want to head all the way out to Ann Arbor if nobody's going to be playing Soulcalibur IV.

EDIT: Actually, the person I was expecting to drive me doesn't really want to go because of the snow. I won't be able to make it.

For those who haven't looked outside in the last 12 hours... we've had some weather. It's not going to stop till later this evening (The Winter Weather Advisory goes until 7pm)... we expect another 6" of snow on top of the 3-4 we already have. So if you're coming here, drive careful and give yourself extra time. I would almost suggest putting it off a week, but I dunno if that's feasible.

Be safe out there.

We still had a good turnout even with the snow.

Results are on SRK if you wanna see them, but I'm not gonna post them here cause the SC4 tourney didn't happen.

Be there for #2 on February 21st. We'll have SF4 as well as all the games featured in #1.
